Palazzo della Trinità is located at the corner of Piazza Gavinana (better known in the city as Piazza del Globo) and Via Cino da Pistoia. It stands where already in the 15th century there was a church with an hospital and several houses belonging to the priests of the Holy Trinity.
In 1788, the building was granted to the Gran Ducal institution called Nuova Ragione di Lana dei Poveri. It was an institute for poor girls who would find support in the production of woolen clothes. The church became a large handicraft workshop and the houses were used as shops.
Throughout the first half of the 19th century, the building manteined its industrial-commercial use and was rented both to individuals and to the music academy of the Red Cross nurses. In particular, many of the rooms were used as timber yard and carpenter's workshops.
Towards the end of the 19th century, the building took on the planivolumetric and aesthetic structure that it still preserves today.
The building housed the Royal Post Office until the 1930s, while between the 1940s and 1950s it housed the Società Azionaria Cooperativa Autotrasporti. (Transport Cooperative Share Company)
In the last years of the last century, the building was used as public offices and activities until it passed into private ownership. It was completely restored to its ancient splendour.
